I recently finished reading "My Sweet Orange Tree" by José Mauro de Vasconcelos, and I can't stop thinking about it. The book tells the story of Zezé, a young boy growing up in poverty in Brazil. Despite his difficult circumstances, Zezé has an active imagination and finds comfort in his friendship with a sweet orange tree.

As a teenager, I found Zezé's character to be incredibly relatable. He is full of energy and curiosity, but also deals with real-world problems like poverty and family struggles. I admired Zezé's resilience and ability to find joy in the midst of hardship, and I think that's a message that can resonate with readers of all ages.

The novel is beautifully written, with a raw and honest portrayal of childhood. Vasconcelos captures the essence of childhood innocence and wonder, but also deals with complex themes like loss and family dynamics. I appreciated the way he presented these issues in a way that felt authentic and heartfelt.

One of the things that stood out to me about the book was the way it incorporated Brazilian culture and folklore into the narrative. It made the story feel more vibrant and added an extra layer of richness to the reading experience.

Overall, I highly recommend "My Sweet Orange Tree" to anyone looking for a heartwarming and thought-provoking coming-of-age story. Zezé's journey is one that will stick with you long after you've finished the book.
